Wedding photography Tankersley Manor, Barnsley - Kate and Stephen - 26 September 2010
Our third wedding in three days and we were very excited about sharing Kate and Stephen's special day because we knew how excited Kate was about getting married and we just knew she'd be a lot of fun to work with. We started the day at Kate's mum and dad's house in Royston where professional make-up artist Nicola Shann was busy applying Kate's make-up. Nicola is a lovely lady and incredibly talented and Kate's reaction when she saw herself in the mirror must have made Nicola's day as well as Kate's because our bride looked stunning. Kate had chosen a beautiful and elegant wedding dress and it was a bonus that she was in it and completely ready a few minutes before we had to leave for Tankersley Manor in Barnsley. Her dad, Trevor, was just a bit emotional when he first saw his daughter all ready for her wedding and as professional Yorkshire wedding photographers, it was a privilege to be there to capture some very special moments between them. We must mention just how welcome Kate's parents made us and we really appreciate their hospitality. Leaving Kate in the capable hands of bridesmaids, Michelle and Brook who were so helpful throughout the entire day, we left for Tankersley Manor to meet up with Stephen and his attendants Rob and Robert for their photographs before the ceremony. Kate arrived a few minutes early, beaming through the window of the fabulous car, hired from Balmoral Wedding Cars of Sheffield. We were very happy to be allowed to photograph the wedding ceremony from the front and from the back, capturing the joy of the occasion and a little emotion, especially during Michelle's reading for the bride and groom. Afterwards it was outside for photographs with the car whilst the guests enjoyed the drinks reception, then on to the groups, some impressive confetti throwing and some fun shots with the attendants. The girls were really up for this - Brook even cheered when we suggested it! We love it when there's so much enthusiasm and Kate's lovely smile never faded all day. The speeches were very funny and it was hilarious watching Kate's reactions to some of the things that were being said. We'd previously discussed taking some night shots outside Tankersley Manor but as dusk arrived, Kate and Stephen had disappeared. We set up anyway and we were hopeful that they would make an appearance at just the right time - that window of only a few minutes before the sky turns black. As it happened, Kate's dad came to the rescue, saying that he would go and find them and a couple of minutes later, Kate came sprinting down the path asking if they were too late, closely followed by Stephen! No guys, it was perfect timing and it was our pleasure to share your happy and fun wedding day with you and your amazing families and a privilege to be your wedding photographers. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Threlfall!
