Nesting bookcase.

The more I look at them, the more I like them.

Dror Benshetrit has a new line of affordably-priced home furnishings at Target. We’re particularly impressed by this nesting bookcase, which adapts well to the demands of different spaces. A set of four open shelves is only $90, and the sets can be placed in groups to create larger shelving units or used as simple end tables.

Stylist: Brana Wolf
Hair: Bob Recine
Makeup: Tom Pecheux

RETURN ENGAGEMENT: Michael Kors has had a long run with models Carmen Kass and Noah Mills in his ad campaigns and on his runway, and he’s bringing the duo back for fall. After shooting past campaigns on private jets, chauffeured cars and yachts around the globe, the fall campaign was shot in New York City to reflect the urban nature of the season. Mario Testino photographed Kass and Mills entering and leaving a Broadway theater. “Michael is an avid fan of the theater and has been attending Broadway shows since the tender age of five,” said a spokesman, who added the media spend is flat compared to last year. The ads will break in the August issues of American, British, Russian and Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and W.

Julie and Martin's wedding at St Nicholas' church, Upper Cumberworth and Bagden Hall - 27 June 2009

Today Julie and Martin tied the knot at St Nicholas' church in Upper Cumberworth near Huddersfield. Julie wore a stunning cream gown with beautiful beading and carried a bouquet of roses in the most gorgeous colours. She arrived in style in a champagne coloured Rolls Royce which is very special indeed - it's Martin's pride and joy, as he owns and runs a hire car company - Armour Classic Cars http://www.armourclassiccars.co.uk/ - so he knows a thing or two about chauffeuring brides on their wedding days. Not today though - that privilege went to Paul, Julie's brother. After the ceremony, we had the pleasure of returning to Bagden Hall in Scissett for Julie and Martin's reception. On arrival, the car shots came first - a must have for Martin! After the wedding breakfast and speeches, we made the most of the lovely evening light for some fun shots with the bridal party, some romantic couple shots and a few artistic bridal portraits. Thank you Julie and Martin for choosing us to capture your special day - it was wonderful to be invited to share it with you.

Style evolution (N°1)

There is a strong movement of “going away from the eighties style” in two different directions:

(1) Some go towards the nineties look with fluo – shiny clothing and rather unknown materials, such as shiny cycle shorts (short leggings) or new beat hairstyles (see trendspotting) for example. This is mainly inspired by the “early nineties techno fever”. Influential stylish young artists were very young 20 years ago, and never really have lived this ever present style of the fluo. It attracts them now. Also the new materials are clearly becoming intriguing

(2) Others rather go back (again) towards the very late sixties look with “hippy hear bands”, “toe-free” shoes and Sgt. Peppers jackets (see trendspotting). This trend is clearly inspired by the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heartsclub Band” by the Beatles (1967) and (again) Woodstock (1969).

Regardless the fact that currently there somewhat seem to be two different directions, I do believe that the nineties soon will be the most dominant style and look. After all, the in the nineties widely present reaction against the resurrection of colors and high tech materials was the late sixties inspired grunge look.

Hannah's Senior Photo Session

I so enjoy senior girl photo sessions, and Hannah's was no exception. She's such a smart and talented young lady and cute to boot with a sweet spirit. Special thanks to her mom, Cheryl, for serving as a great photo assistant-slash-set dresser!

Tip of the Day

via Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far

Farrah Fawcett RIP

American Vogue July 1978 Cover

Photographer: Patrick Demarchelier
Makeup: Way Bandy
Hair: Garren
Fashion: Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture

Farrah Fawcett's death has touched me deeply. She was an American icon and a real beauty. Her warm smile and positive energy brought me a lot of happiness. Farrah was sick for a long time, and is no longer in pain. She is in a better place, and will be missed.

I can't believe I am crying at work....again. Her struggle with cancer, and passing remind me that life is not to be taken for granted. Live each day as if it is your last. Farrah Fawcett was 62 years old, the same age as my father. My father is a great man, and means the world to me. My heart goes out to Farrah, her father, Ryan O'Neal, her son, and everyone who was lucky enough to be loved by her.

Farrah's friends remember her:

In a statement confirming the tragic news, Ryan O'Neal says: "After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
He reveals Fawcett was awake and aware of her surroundings shortly before her death, telling People.com, "She now belongs to the angels. She's now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now.

Fawcett's Charlie's Angels co-stars Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and the actress who replaced her on the hit show, Cheryl Ladd, were among the first celebrities to remember the star. Smith commented, "She had courage and strength... Now she has peace as she rests with real angels." And Ladd told HollyScoop.com, "I'm terribly sad about Farrah's passing. She was incredibly brave, and God will be welcoming her with open arms."

"I will miss Farrah every day," commented Kate Jackson to PEOPLE. "She was a selfless person who loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was. Farrah showed immense courage and grace throughout her illness and was an inspiration to those around her. When I think of Farrah I will remember her kindness, her cutting dry wit and, of course, her beautiful smile."

Added Jackson, "Today when you think of Farrah remember her smiling, because that is exactly how she wanted to be remembered."

Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner called Fawcett, who died of cancer at age 62 Thursday morning, the "Marilyn Monroe of the 1970s" whose famous poster "defined what one thinks of as the All-American girl."

"Men fell in love with her and women wanted to look like her," says Hefner of his magazine's cover model. "She had a magic that never went away. She became a part of the pop culture.

Griffin O'Neal, son of Ryan, said, "I never looked at her as a 'star,' or a 'Charlie's Angel.' I looked at her always as this wonderful Southern Belle, a lady. I was fascinated by her. I loved her. She was the most gracious, wonderful person. I always wondered why she was around this family. 'Why are you here?' She was such a beautiful person. Especially in the latter days."

He went on to say, "It was incredible watching her battling to help [her son] Redmond. She had the patience of a giant. I'm so worried about my brother. What's he going to do without her? Farrah was part of my family. My heart is broken. I will miss her forever and ever. She was so kind and gracious."

Fawcett's former husband, Lee Majors, says, "She fought a tremendous battle against a terrible disease. She was an angel on earth and now an angel forever."

Hairstylist Jose Eber, who created Fawcett's famous blonde mane, says, "She was blessed with the most amazing hair anybody could have."

"Her hair had its own personality," he says. "In my business, doing hair for so long now, very rarely do you see a person who has hair with such perfection. And it was all natural."

Charlie's Angel theme:

My favorite Charlie's Angels episode was "Angels in Chains". A chambray shirt & a high waisted denim jean is a classic look:

Brandon and Brooke are married!

These past several months Brooke has been interning over at Great Expectations so I was excited to see what details she included in her day after months of working other great events.

You may remember these two from my post last fall following their engagement session at High Bridge (see the photo below of their guestbook of images -- it was so fun to see that in use and enjoyed by guests before the wedding and at the reception). Ever since learning that Brandon occasionally fills in for our regular UPS guy, I've thought it would be fun to unexpectedly see him sometime making a delivery here. Months past and I never saw him (probably not doing enough to help the economy, what can I say?), but then it turns out he did bring something the week of the wedding -- my long-awaited 85mm 1.2 lens. Unfortunately, I was out at the post office (I know, the only place worse would have been to say I was at FedEx). How appropriate was it though that his groom's cake was a brown UPS truck?

Brooke positively glowed in her wedding gown. I know if there was another occasion for her to don it, she'd wear it in a heartbeat. Her long veil was a dramatic accessory (as you saw in one of the photos above) that I just don't get to utilize at many weddings. You can imagine my excitement when she walked in the church doors from the hair salon with it draped over her arm.

All of Brooke's nieces and nephews (except the baby) had a part in the wedding and you could tell they were excited to see their Aunt Brooke get married. It's fun when it's a family affair! Her brother-in-law brought the most scrumptious shrimp from his restaurant in Paducah and it was all I could do to avoid that side of the reception hall! At the end of the evening, Brooke's parents surprised the newlyweds with a special departure in an antique white Bentley. Check out the look of surprise on Brandon's face below:

Here are some of the others who contributed to a lovely day:

Type-y nostalgia.

A few days ago, my pal Matt and I were chatting about the good ol' days of handmade band flyers. Band posters have become an amazing art form, but there's something just impossibly charming about a crazyass homemade poster/flyer like this. I love it.

Thanks, Matt (and Stan)!

Stephane Halleux's bots.

Wow. These are so cool, they're actually making me a little giddy.

The site does not do these justice. I wish he'd get rid of the Flash and just make the images bigger.
