Wow.

Using the same principle as an ink-jet printer, experts are able to take skin cells from a patient's body, multiply them, then print out a tailor-made strip of skin, ready to sew on to the body. The wound's dimensions are entered into the printer to ensure a perfect fit.

Budget Traveller's Guide to Sleeping in Airports

"I'd like to thank -- I mean, slap -- The Academy..."

Hardly-breaking news: I'm an Oscar geek. I admit it. I love the Oscars. The schmaltz. The glamor. The tradition. The excess. So I must ask (as lovingly as a mother with an errant child) -- why, oh, why can't they cough up a few grand from their squillion dollar budget for a decent Oscar poster? Every year, it's a celebration of bad graphic design. This year they appear to have given the design honors to an accounting intern who thought it might be cool to "do something a little iPod-y."

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but this little plant looks like it has Little Shop of Horrors written all over it. (Not literally, of course.)

Man. Some days I'd love to be rich.

Just so I could buy myself a cool pied-à-terre spacepod.

Feeling a bit too chipper these days?

Feeling like you're out of touch with your inner manic-depressive? This should fix you up, right quick.

Lovely things make life easier.

I've had this hanging in my bathroom for the past month. Every morning, as I get out of the shower, I read it. Those that know me know I'm averse to poetry that rhymes. But there's something about the simplicity of this that makes me feel...peaceful. And hopeful.

For winter's rains and ruins are over,

And all the season of snows and sins;

The days dividing lover and lover,

The light that loses, the night that wins;

And time remembered is grief forgotten,

And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,

And in green underwood and cover

Blossom by blossom the spring begins.

The perfect protest.

Might as well try for something worthy and achievable.

A few days late, but, alas, I was in New York and got snowed in, well away from my computer.

p.s. If you ever get snowed in, make sure it's in NY. SO much more fun than being at home.

Interesting...

According to Trendcentral.com:

Pay phones may be on their way to extinction, but phone booths are making a come back. Restaurants and libraries are installing phone booths so that patrons may use their mobile phones in private.

I'd be very happy with that.

Damn. I wish our company could come up with a campaign name like that. And keep a straight face.

Sadly, however, this means North Korea will not celebrate "Mustache March" -- an alternate campaign that a few of my co-workers thought was an excellent idea after two hours of open bar at our company holiday party.
