Engagement Portrait Photographer West Yorkshire

Laura and Alan

Laura and Alan will tie the knot in February at the Bridge Inn in Walshford near Wetherby and we met up with them today to discuss their wedding photography and their plans for their big day. Afterwards, we braved the cold to take some photographs of them together around their venue. This session helped them relax and feel more confident in front of the camera. We are really looking forward to working with them on their wedding day.

Carole, Dan and Scarlett

Carole and Dan recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary and we were their wedding photographers when they tied the knot at Hazlewood Castle on 7 December 2008. Today they came for a portrait session, bringing along their beautiful baby Scarlett, and what a stunner she is! Scarlett is one of the most cheerful babies we've ever met! Carole and Dan were a fabulous couple to work with when we photographed their wedding and seeing them again today was like meeting up with old friends. Thank you for travelling all the way up from London for your portrait session. It was so lovely to see you again.

Christmas

(above) My daughter, Ellie
I hope you are celebrating this Christmas season with the ones you love!

Merry Christmas

There's no political correctness on this blog, so I would call this holiday what it is:

Merry Christmas!

Dennis Flood Photography.

I bought prints of these photos last week and absolutely love them. If you're looking for some really saturated, reasonably priced, gorgeous photos (especially from a quiet, lovely Canadian fellow with a great eye and a tiny dog named Frank), you need to check out Dennis' online gallery/store.

Las Vegas, Nevada, November 2000.

Las Vegas, Nevada, November 2000
by Mike Sinclair

When I took this picture my sister was living in Las Vegas and I was going out pretty regularly to visit her. I had a routine of photographing in the late afternoons and often she’d come along. We liked discovering her new town together. Usually, we’d start at Las Vegas Boulevard and slowly drive out to one of the edges of the city. The town was growing like crazy—its population almost doubled between 1990 and 2000. It was changing so fast I feared much of what we saw would be gone by my next visit. Not only were the old casinos being replaced with new ones but on the perimeter of town new subdivisions were starting to replace the small ranches, trailer homes and Christmas tree lots.

We listened to the music of Last Forever a lot on those drives, its merging of old and new melodies seemed comforting. This picture makes me think of lyrics from a song on their first album:

I’m on a planet, held down by gravity,
But there’s a big sky. Up there it’s endless
Reason to believe.

Phone box has new life as library.

Things like this make me ridiculously happy.

The traditional phone box was bought from BT for £1.

A traditional red phone box has been recycled into one of the country's smallest lending libraries - stocking 100 books.

Ophélie

C’est que la voix des mers folles, immense râle,
Brisait ton sein d’enfant, trop humain et trop doux;

The Brain to the Heart

Stars tied to breath
don't have to be there
when you look.
No more than drops
of blood on ginkgo
leaves & inconsequential

eggs & frog spittle
clinging to damp grass.
Sure, I've seen doubts
clustered like peacock
eyes flash green fire.
So what?

When days are strung together,
the hourglass fills
with worm's dirt.
What do you take
the brain for? I know
how hard you work

in that dark place, but
I can't be tied down
to shadows of men
in trenches you won't
forget. You look at
a mulberry leaf

like a silkworm does, with all your insides,
but please don't ask me to be responsible

Giant writing paper.

I can't help it. I love giant things.

Three giant sheets of writing paper.

Lanvin Spring 2010 campaign preview: Jamie Bochert, Photo: Steven Meisel

Steven Meisel photographed Jamie Bochert for the Lanvin Spring 2010 campaign on November 16, 2009.

Model: Jamie Bochert
Photographer: Steven Meisel
Hair: Guido Palau
Makeup: Pat McGrath

From Womens Wear Daily:
Fashion ad campaigns have recently been loaded with prostrate models. “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” said Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz. Cue the French house’s women’s spring-summer advertising, shot by Steven Meisel and featuring Jamie Bochert in one heck of hurry, rushing down a corridor in a New York studio. “She moved so fast, even the chandelier was moving with her,” Elbaz said. Bochert was fully qualified for the fast-forward campaign, as Elbaz related that the model recently pursued a purse snatcher for 12 blocks in Brooklyn — and reclaimed her bag from the thief. “That’s the kind of girl I like,” Elbaz said.
