Multifont Belt Buckle.

One of those things that I never would have thought I'd want, but now I do.

Cast lead-free pewter, patina and a clear coat make this homage to type shine on your belt, without drawing too much attention away from the rest of your ensemble.

Phrase of the day: "desire path."

Lovely.

Desire Path: A term in landscape architecture used to describe a path that isn't designed but rather is worn casually away by people finding the shortest distance between two points.

Robots for sale.

Too spendy for me, but so fab.

Please note: Guy Robots are not toys: they do not walk or talk or give legal advice. They are not dangerous and will not bite, kick, pinch, or emit ozone. Guy Robots will not -- unless repeatedly provoked -- harass your dog or cat.

WPPI

Kelly

Jan

(photos courtesy of Becker)

I just returned from an amazing time at WPPI in Las Vegas, a convention for wedding and portrait photographers from around the world (I think they said there were 12,000 in attendance)! It was a great time to get inspired and learn from some of the best in the business. The Trade Show was great for checking out some of the newest products on the market for albums and art presentation, not to mention view and buy all sorts of camera equipment and related gadgets and gizmos. The sessions with leading professionals were educational and re-fueling as we get ready to start another season of weddings. I'm so excited!!!

I was thrilled to travel with my college friend, Jan, and a childhood friend, Kelly, who is sticking her toe into the water of professional photography and will be assisting me at some of my weddings this year (so some of you will get to meet her)! Currently, I'm at my parents' home in IL for Easter weekend and don't have the ability to post some of our fun picts at Red Rock Canyon (practicing our posing techniques) so you'll have to check back later to see those.

Meanwhile, those of you with engagement shoots to schedule, expect to be hearing from me soon!

Poetry nightstand.

The leitmotif of books was used for creating this design. The nightstand looks like a pile of randomly superimposed books. There are four drawers.

Hire your own paparazzo.

I find this kind of intriguing. Not as a conceit, but as a way to see what you look like to other people in your unguarded moments.

MethodIzaz is a unique photography experience. Subjects are unaware of the exact moment they will be photographed and of the photographer's identity. Instead, the subject is photographed completely naturally, living life as normal.

MethodIzaz will provide you with a portfolio of pictures representing the fleeting moments of an authentic lifestyle. The photographs will allow you to remember these moments later in life. They will also give you a new perspective on the everyday, letting you see yourself and your surroundings through the eyes of an artist.

Using information provided earlier about their weekly routine, the photographer will arrive on the scene, and unseen, take shots of the subject. The subject will be photographed walking through the streets, going about their daily business. Without posing and artifice, the camera captures only the natural beauty of the person.

Movie poster baby announcements.

For those not gifted with a nice sense of design but no proper design skills, this is kind of an ace idea.

FLY by Yoko Ono

Yoko designed the Fly book with Lennon in the 70s, and in 2007, she reinstalled the book FLY.

What is going through her mind when she see the word "fly" I wonder, did she see the sky?

I HEARD a fly buzz when I died;
The stillness round my form
Was like the stillness in the air
Between the heaves of storm.
The eyes beside had wrung them dry, 5
And breaths were gathering sure
For that last onset, when the king
Be witnessed in his power.
I willed my keepsakes, signed away
What portion of me I 10
Could make assignable,—and then
There interposed a fly,
With blue, uncertain, stumbling buzz,
Between the light and me;
And then the windows failed, and then 15
I could not see to see.

Illustrating Prada

prada-fairy-bag.jpg

It's final. Illustration is art, illustration is fashion, and now, it's Prada. James Jean, an ingenious illustrator, an icon for comic fans, is having his works stirring up the sensation in Prada Spring collection. He would also be designing a massive mural installation in the New York Prada boutique.

Strange banner ad.

I just saw this in the LA Times.

The illustration and typography is so bad, it's actually kind of awesome.

Sperm For Tickets.

If this is for real (and it appears it is), I weep quietly for the future. It feels a bit like offering a 10-year-old a Wii for his kidney.

Again - IF this is for real - it's been so popular, they're not taking any more donations at this point.
