The evolution of toys.

Sometimes our leaps in technology just sort of mesmerize me.

"Where Did I Come From?"

Such a fun "School House Rock" kind of illustration for this 70s children's book. It made me laugh.

Chalkboard table.

If I had a little kid, I'd be all over this. Unfortunately, I don't think my cats would do much with it except lick the chalk.

piggy.

A lovely concept well executed.

Piggy is a set of two savings banks that nest together. The larger “momma” bank is for a child’s personal savings, and the smaller bank is for the child's charitable savings.

Kitteh coloring book.

This would pretty much fall smack dab in the middle of my cute/kitten Venn diagram, if I had one.

Mila's Daydreams.

Lovely and funny and gorgeous.

This blog is my maternity leave hobby. While my baby is taking her nap, I create a scene around her and take quick snap photos.

I use only few minutes per picture, including creating idea, implementation and editing, 'cause I don't want to disturb her sleeping and most of my time is for my family. My camera is small and inexpensive Canon IXUS 750.

Educational prints.

Fun vintage prints at Three Potato Four.

These children's elementary educational charts from the 1950s provide simple and wonderfully illustrated explanations of basic science principles. Each chart is in good to very good vintage condition showing only minor surface wear and the occasional mild yellowing (please see photos). Prints measure 12.75" by 16" and are sold individually.

"Exit Strategy" by Jesse LeDoux.

These would be absolutely perfect for a kid's room. Kids should look at sunny, happy things and try to figure them out. That's what I think anyway. (It's a shame they're only 5x7. These would be fantastic as a large-scale mural.)

"With Exit Strategy, Jesse LeDoux continues to explore themes of escapism and balance. This new work playfully creates obtuse diagrams of the negative energies in daily life and the possible escape routes to finding happiness."

Tiny Showcase is proud to present 18 signed archival prints from Jesse LeDoux's Exit Strategy. Each print is available in an edition of 15 pieces.

Prints are available individually or as a boxed set. Purchasing the box set containing all 18 signed and editioned prints entitles you to an original work of art by Jesse LeDoux. When you order the entire collection, your signed archival prints will come boxed with an original ink and gouache piece by the artist.

LIFE Photo Gallery: 30 Dumb Inventions.

Sometimes "dumb" actually means "terrifying."

Baby Cage, 1937

A nanny supervising a baby suspended in a wire cage attached to the outside of a high tenement block window. The cages were distributed to members of the Chelsea Baby Club in London who have no gardens, or qualms about putting a child in a box dangling over a busy street.
